Dr David Batagol General Practitioner

Dr David Batagol is a Monash University graduate, who has had a varied and interesting career, including time in the Royal Australian Air Force, and a period working in paediatrics in the British NHS hospital system. He also has a postgraduate Diploma of Child Health, and has particular interests in child health, in cardiovascular risk prevention, and male health. Dr Batagol previously worked in his own practice in Canberra for 10 years, prior to relocating to Woy Woy Family Practice in 2010. He is a father of five, who still finds time to build telescopes, play guitar, and take awesome images of the universe!

Dr Joanna Zakrzewski General Practitioner

Dr Joanna Zakrzewski is an experienced General Practitioner who previously worked at Gosford Hospital before pursuing interests as an international expedition and race doctor. She continued to work as a GP in the United Kingdom for 15 years before returning to the Central Coast. Dr Zakrzewski’s main areas of interest are family planning, women’s health, travel, sport and nutrition.  Her interests include playing in an orchestra, playing bridge and running (having competed at world championship and Commonwealth Games level) and as a qualified athletic coach. Dr Zakrzewski is bilingual in French and English.

Dr Karen Atanis General Practitioner

Dr Karen Atanis finished her medical degree in 2005 and has been a trained paediatrician in the Philippines since 2010. She has been a sub-investigator for a clinical research trial for an international drug company. Dr Atanis worked as paediatric registrar and held RMO positions at Hornsby Hospital and around Sydney. She has worked as a panel physician for Bupa Medical Visa Services under Department of Immigration. Dr Atanis practised around Kempsey and Port Macquarie during her GP training. Her special interests include paediatric health, women’s health, chronic disease management, and skin cancers.

Dr Sabbir Rahman General Practitioner

Dr M Sabbir Rahman MBBS MRCGP (UK) is a passionate general practitioner who has been working in the UK for the past 15 years. Dr Rahman moved to the UK after graduating from Dhaka, Bangladesh.Before starting his career as a GP, he worked in psychiatry and emergency. Dr Rahman qualified as a GP from the UK in 2013. He has worked in South London  as a General Practitioner for the last 8 years before moving to Australia to be closer to his family and friends. Dr Rahman is approachable and well liked by his patients and colleagues. Dr Rahman has special interests in various aspects of general practice including mental health, children’s health, men’s health, elderly care, chronic disease management and palliative care. He likes travelling, playing cricket and spending time with his family.

Dr Natasha Umrani General Practitioner

Dr Natasha Umrani graduated with her MBBS in 2006 from St George’s Hospital Medical School (University of London). She completed vocational training in the north east deanery attained the DRCOG Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and MRCGP, and has been a GP since 2011 in a busy inner London practice. Her special interests are gynaecology and obstetrics, and child health. Prior to starting at Woy Woy, Dr Umrani was travelling with her family in Africa and Central America before settling in the northern beaches. She is fluent in Urdu and Hindi and she speaks some Spanish.

Dr Cari Medina General Practitioner

Dr Cari Medina finished her medical degree in the Philippines in 2013. She moved to Australia in 2017 to undergo further medical training. She worked at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital as a Resident Medical Officer for 3 years before pursuing further training in Paediatrics where she worked as Paediatric Resident at Children’s Hospital Westmead. She moved back to Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and worked as a Paediatric Registrar for another 2 years while finishing her Diploma in Child Health. Dr Medina eventually moved to GP training and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014. Her special interests include newborn and paediatric health, women’s health, mental health, chronic disease management, and weight management.

Dr Eric Fung General Practitioner

Dr. Eric Fung, originally from Malaysia, graduated from Edinburgh Medical School and completed his postgraduate training in Scotland. Before specializing in General Practice, he gained diverse clinical experience in acute and general medicine, geriatrics, oncology, general surgery, paediatrics and psychiatry, providing him with a broad and comprehensive understanding, as well as a holistic approach to patient care across various medical specialties. While juggling full-time clinical responsibilities, he pursued additional education and training, earning a master’s degree in Internal Medicine through a scholarship awarded by the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Throughout his career, Dr. Fung has actively engaged in medical education, mentoring medical students, and contributing to undergraduate clinical examinations. Alongside his expertise in General Practice, he has special interests in dermatology, aged care, cardiovascular health, chronic disease management, mental health, palliative care, and medical education. Dr. Fung is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Malay.

Outside of nutrition, Sarah enjoys being outdoors either in the garden, rock climbing, hiking, and exploring new places, as well as using her passion for nutrition to prepare healthy meals.
